In recent years, dating apps have become more and more convenient for many people to meet someone they would want to date. Although they can be handy, more people are beginning to ditch dating apps again. But, there are still some who find it difficult to meet people the old-school way. Simply put, here are some ways you can practice meeting someone the traditional, and real way.
Have your friend set you up
It is said that this is the most successful way to meet someone as most people report having met their significant other through a friend. Somehow this makes sense because everything is made easier. You won’t have to approach the person as a complete stranger anymore because your friend can just introduce you to each other.
Talk, even as a stranger
This is the complete opposite of the point above but you should not rule this out at all. This is one of the more challenging ways to meet someone because you never know if he/she will talk to you or not, especially because you don’t know each other. Even so, if you see a really attractive girl, for example, and you want to at least take your chance, then gather up some courage and just go for it!
Use your hobbies
Whether it’s jogging or cycling around Singapore, hiking in nature parks, doing martial arts, or going to art museums, rest assured you’ll be able to meet someone. Meeting someone through your hobbies is also reasonably easier because you already have similar interests. You never know, the person who takes the same hiking route as you might just be your significant other.
Walk your dog
There are many dog parks around Singapore and these are great places to meet and mingle with dog lovers as well. Walking your dog also makes it easy for you to strike up conversations. If by chance, someone attractive comes to pet your dog then you can easily get a conversation started.
Go to a bookshop
If you’re a bookworm, then obviously you’d want to meet someone at a bookshop. It can be fairly easy to start a conversation, especially if the person you want to talk to is holding a book you’ve already read. The atmosphere of a bookshop is also advantageous because it’s quiet and less rowdy compared to most places.
Go to a bar
On the other hand, if you prefer crowdy places, you can go to clubs or bars. The advantage here is that there are a lot of people who come and go, hence you can always talk to many people. Although not usually the case, the disadvantage is that there may be people who just want to have fun and you might not meet a person who would take relationships seriously.
