Everyone is a fan of a great bar especially if it tastes really good. But this food is so much better if it’s a healthy and portable snack that is way far from the packed ones you find in groceries. These bars can absolutely be customized by you at home!
What better way to do that is to cut out extra junky ingredients to tailor fit your health needs and preferences. These energy bar flavors you can do at home will fantastically fill you up after a work-out, when you need breakfast or when you just simply crave for a dessert.
- Dried Fruit Energy Bars
This energy bar is made up of just 2 ingredients: dried apricot and apples. Place them in a food processor to get its purée, and then head them out to a baking pan and start rolling according to your preferred thickness or size. There is no required baking or cooling for these bars, what could get much easier than that?
- Chocolate and Pistachio Nutella Bars
Nutella is normally known as a dessert but it comes with a new purpose as an energy snack packed with loads of nuts, coconut oil and oats. Not only flavors of pistachio and dark chocolate make a great combo of sweet and salty taste but they are also chewy, thick and above all, bursting with flavors!
This requires some work in the oven but for just about 30-35 minutes until they turn golden brown. When they seem under baked and soft upon pulling out from the oven, you need not to worry as they get firm when they cool.
- Cacao Energy Bars
This super food energy bar is loaded with seed ingredients such as: chia seeds (widely sold in Singapore and is known as a beauty supplement), hemp seeds (nutty food), flaxseed (ground) and pumpkin seeds. Of course, the star ingredient is cacao beans with raisins and walnuts! Blend all ingredients in a food processor and if it becomes too dry, you may add dates or melted coconut oil as necessary.
Press the mixed ingredients in the pan and set them inside the fridge for an hour. After, you can cut them into bars according to size preference and store them until a week. You can also get creative by topping them with dark chocolate or nuts.
- Vegan Pumpkin Energy Bars
The consistency of this recipe is perfect if you are not in a mood for chewy nor crunch snack. Blend cashews, pumpkin purée, pumpkin seeds and some coconut, place the mixed ingredient to the fridge and slice according to your desired size.
- Banana Energy Bars
This is another no-bake goodie you can try with other ingredients. Blend dates, vanilla and banana until smooth in a food processor then add in walnuts, some oats and salt for a minute or two. Make sure all ingredients are well mixed and thick. Spoon mixture into a pan and place it in the freezer for 2-3 hours and slice into bars. Enjoy!
